CASE Attends MSRAL 2003
by Patrick C. Carr, CASE President

The 2003 Mid-States Regional of the Astronomical League (MSRAL) Convention was held June 20-22 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was sponsored by the Astronomy Club of Tulsa. Dr. David Cater, CASE Observing Awards Coodinator, Patrick Carr, CASE President, and Ed Jones were in attendance from CASE. The event was loaded with exciting speakers and included two great evenings at the home club's observatory outside of Tulsa. Patrick Carr, MSRAL Regional Representative, addressed the attendees at the annual business meeting and gave a report on last year's national meeting at ALCON 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. There were some great presentations from amateurs from all over the Mid-States Region. Ed Jones gave a presentation on his recent trip to New Zealand and at the annual awards banquet, current MSRAL Amateur of the Year, Patrick Carr, presented the 2003 award to K.C. Labrecht of the Tulsa Club. Michael Peterson took first place overall in the astrophoto contest for his photo of M31 in Andromeda, and Dr. David Cater took second place for his photo of the Horsehead.
