Public Star Parties are held each month at the Heavenview Observatory in eastern Oklahoma, at New Life Ranch, and are used to view the heavens and to instruct others in amateur astronomy techniques. Heavenview is located approximately five miles from Siloam Springs off of US-412 on New Life Ranch Road.
There are two parties each month, one for primarily lunar observing and one for observing stars and items of astronomical interest. These parties are open to the public. There is also an annual meeting held to discuss club business.
From Siloam Springs:
Take US-412 west into Oklahoma. Approximately four miles from Siloam Springs will be New Life Ranch Road. This is on the right. If you come to the speedway, then you have travelled too far. Follow New Life Ranch Road for about 2 miles. Before the bend in the road that goes to the right and down the steep inclined hill. Take the dirt road straight through the woods. Heavenview will be in the field on the right hand side. If you follow the road down the hill, then New Life Ranch will be on your left. You may come through the Ranch to get to the Observatory, but be forewarned that the road is not as well developed.
