Nominations are currently being accepted for the Mid States Region's Amateur of the Year. Nominees should be members of an MSRAL affiliated club, and show exceptional interest and motivation in the amateur astronomical community.

The "Amateur Astronomer of the Year" award is given each year, at the Mid-States Regional Convention, to a person (or persons) who have gone beyond the call of duty with the amateur astronomy community.

Because the various clubs in the region live so far apart, it is hard for any one person to know who deserves the award. Therefore, it is left up to the individual clubs to nominate an individual (or individuals, when it is an obvious team effort).

In writing, give the nominees qualifications. A history of the reasons why the nominee deserves the award. Any involvement with the Mid-States Region should be emphasized.

All nominations are read and discussed by past recipients at a special meeting held at the convention. There is a vote and the winner(s) are announced during the awards session which will be held at the banquet.

All nominations should be submitted no later than June 1, 2002 to:
Patrick C. Carr, Chairman
